BPSF works to help enhance opportunities for the students of the Brainerd Public Schools through 4A grants (arts, academics, athletics, and activities) and scholarships. Two years ago we began a Dream Big initiative. We worked with the District Technology team the first two years to break down classroom walls to help provide opportunities to our students that they may not have otherwise. We are proud to announce that we achieved our goals and bought a classroom set of Virtual Reality (VR) kits and an Augmented Reality kit for our district. Our district has about 40% of our student body categorized as “at risk.” (over 40% receive Free & Reduced Lunch) Many of these students rarely make it out of their neighborhoods, let alone an opportunity to travel and experience the outside world. These Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality experiences are literally putting the world at their fingertips. Thank you to all who helped us reach our goal!
2020 Dream Big: The Brainerd Public Schools Foundation is excited to announce that this year’s DREAM BIG project has been selected! 2020 Books! We are proud to partner this Dream Big initiative with our Big Event theme, “2020 Vision – The Future is Bright.” Our goal is to raise the funds needed to buy a minimum of 2,020 high-interest books for K-8 classroom libraries across the district! Studies show when students have access to 600-1,000 high-interest titles in their classrooms – students have higher academic achievement and success rates. Thank you Jill Bjorge, District Literacy Coordinator, for daring to Dream Big for our students and schools!
JOIN BPSF by making a donation to the 2020 Dream Big Project! We estimate we will need to raise between $15,000-$18,000 to buy 2,020 “library quality” bound books. Click here to donate now
